The interior of Puerto Rico is rugged and wild. Called Karst
country, the mountains are very steep and rocky, and remind
one of numerous hay stacks grouped together - although much
larger. Through this mountainous country runs a river known
as the Tanamá. Remote, due to the almost impassable
nature of the mountains, the Tanamá snakes it's way
to the ocean. Cutting through solid rock, the river has formed
vertical walled canyons, as well as caves that pass directly
under mountains. We are unlike other adventure providers who
take you out for only a few hours, this two day "canyoneering"
trip is not for the faint-hearted. The expedition involves
backpacking in the mountains, strenuous hiking and swimming
in the river, and venturing through bat-filled caves. Beautiful
waterfalls, giant tree ferns, and greenery beyond belief are
included!
